Hidden Valley Golf Course is looking for a hands-on greenskeeper / turf manager who wants more than just mowing grass.
This is a chance to take ownership of a course, learn fast, and build real experience that can take you to higher-level superintendent roles.
If you’ve got a turf degree (or solid experience) and want to actually run things instead of just following orders, keep reading.
⸻
What This Job Really Is
This is a working role, not a clipboard job.
You’ll be:
• Running mowers (greens, fairways, rough)
• Fixing irrigation (we have an older system we’re actively improving)
• Making judgment calls on turf health
• Helping prioritize projects (drainage, upgrades, improvements)
• Figuring things out when they break (because they will)
You won’t be stuck doing one thing—you’ll learn everything it takes to run a course.
⸻
Why This is a Good Opportunity
• Real responsibility early (not just “assistant to the assistant”)
• Direct involvement in irrigation upgrades and course improvements
• Freedom to make decisions and see the results
• Build experience that actually matters when applying to bigger courses
• Work directly with ownership—your input counts
⸻
What We’re Looking For
• Turf management degree OR hands-on experience in landscaping/golf maintenance
• Strong work ethic (early mornings, weather, getting dirty—it’s part of it)
• Mechanical mindset (you don’t need to be a mechanic, but you can figure things out)
• Interest in irrigation systems (huge plus if you already know them)
• Self-starter—you don’t need constant direction
• Someone who wants to grow into a superintendent role someday
⸻
Bonus Points
• Pesticide applicator license (or willing to get one)
• Equipment maintenance experience
• Irrigation troubleshooting or install experience
⸻
Pay / Details
• Pay DOE (we’re fair and flexible depending on experience)
• Full-time, year-round, or seasonal
• Located in Cottage Grove, OR
• Possible housing/RV space
⸻
How to Apply
Reply to this post with:
• A short intro about yourself
• Any relevant experience or schooling
• Why this kind of role interests you
⸻
Final Note
This isn’t a perfect, polished country club job.
It’s better for the right person.
If you want to learn fast, take ownership, and build something you can be proud of, you’ll do well here.
