Screwdriver, Bridgeport, Made in USA vintage screwdriver 9”, Phillips # 2 $10.00
Vintage, collectible
Signed on side J.M. Jenkins - the question is, is the Jenkins that lived in Bridgeport , referenced below?
Was this screwdriver manufactured by Bridgeport Manufacturing Co. for Jenkins - or manufactured by Jenkins Brothers ?
Screw driver, some on-line research shows that Bridegport Hardware Manufacturing Co. marketed and subcontracted their tools with both the "Bridegport Hardware Manufacturing Co." logo and also with just "Bridgeport" stamped on the tool. This screwdriver is most likely manufactured by Bridgeport HDWE Mfg. Co...but, it appears to be the rare among those tools available for sale. At this point it is possible that this screwdriver could have been manufactured by Bridgeport HDWE Mfg. Co for Jenkins tools, - the Jenkins signature or imprint on the side of the ferrule appears to have been professionally done by a machine.
Wooden handle screw driver
Jenkins Brothers
Rubber components and iron valves - Jenkins Brothers had plants in several U.S. states and Canada. Its Bridgeport operation began in 1920 and was responsible for Jenkins' iron valve production, producing some of the smallest and largest valves ever manufactured. Jenkins products were used heavily by the US military during WWI, WWII, and the Korean War due to their applications in ships, airplanes, submarines, and other manufacturing plants.
