Job Summary:
The Technical Sales & Operations Specialist serves as the primary interface between customers and internal operations. This role manages inbound customer inquiries, prepares product quotes, processes orders, and coordinates closely with production to ensure that customer requirements are accurately fulfilled.
Because Obsidian Integration is a small, technical manufacturing company, this position combines responsibilities typically spread across several departments in larger organizations. The role requires strong technical aptitude, excellent communication skills, and the ability to manage both sales and operational tasks.
This role is best suited for someone who enjoys working across both customer-facing and operational responsibilities within a small technical company environment.
The ideal candidate has prior experience working with technical products, understands basic networking and surveillance technology concepts, and is comfortable interacting directly with customers while supporting internal operations. A significant portion of this position involves maintaining accurate order records, product assemblies, and inventory data within our internal systems.
Key Responsibilities:
• Customer Interaction & Technical Sales Support
o Serve as the primary contact for inbound customer inquiries via phone and email
o Work with law enforcement customers to identify appropriate product solutions
o Provide limited technical guidance on product features, system compatibility, and configuration options
o Prepare quotes and proposals based on established pricing and product configurations
o Maintain communication with customers throughout the quoting and order process
• Quote Generation & Order Processing
o Prepare and manage quotes for customer orders
o Process purchase orders, credit card transactions, and order confirmations
o Enter and manage sales orders within company systems
o Coordinate invoicing and payment processing through QuickBooks
o Maintain accurate records of customer orders, transactions, and communications
• Sales Administration & Back-Office Coordination
o Maintain and update internal product pricing sheets and quote templates
o Assist with maintaining product descriptions, part numbers, and configuration information
o Ensure sales documentation and order records remain accurate and organized
o Support internal coordination between sales, production, and accounting processes
o Assist with general administrative tasks required to support daily operations
• Inventory & Assembly Management
o Create and maintain product assemblies within QuickBooks
o Build and manage assemblies to support production orders
o Move and allocate inventory within the system to ensure assemblies can be generated correctly
o Assist with maintaining accurate Bills of Materials (BOMs) and product configuration records
o Help ensure product and inventory records remain accurate and consistent
• Production & Operations Coordination
o Translate customer orders into production work orders
o Coordinate order details with production staff to ensure correct configurations
o Support inventory tracking and procurement coordination when required
o Assist with documentation and operational workflow improvements
Required Qualifications:
• Minimum 3–5 years of experience in technical sales, inside sales, technical support, or a related role
• Experience working with technical or electronic products
• Familiarity with networking concepts, IP devices, or surveillance systems
• Strong problem-solving and critical thinking abilities
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities simultaneously
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
• Experience with QuickBooks or similar accounting/order management software
• Ability to work independently in a small-team environment
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience working with radio frequency based video surveillance, IP cameras, or networking equipment
• Familiarity with TCP/IP networking, NAT, port forwarding, and related concepts
• Experience in electro-mechanical product sales or manufacturing environments
• Experience supporting production coordination or order management
• Knowledge of the law enforcement or public safety technology market
Why This Role Is Unique:
This role offers the opportunity to sit at the center of customer interaction and internal operations in a small but highly specialized technical manufacturing company, where your work has a direct and visible impact on both customers and production outcomes. Unlike roles in larger organizations that divide sales, customer support, and operations across multiple departments, this position gives you end-to-end ownership of the quoting, order, and coordination process—from the first customer inquiry through product delivery. Candidates who enjoy working with technical products, translating customer needs into accurate configurations, and helping internal teams execute smoothly will find this role particularly rewarding.
