Do you have a tiny house, nice RV, schoolie, or adventure van and are looking for a quality spot in Eugene to call home? I'm an idealistic car-free vegan homeowner who's just installed full hookups for my driveway in hopes that I can convert this car space into a living space for the right person(s).
The spot: The driveway is 90' long, but only 9' wide, with fresh compacted gravel. There is room for a vehicle/house that's 8.5' wide and around 30' long, plus a personal vehicle. My current housemate has a vehicle so there would need to be coordination if you're bringing a daily-driver vehicle. If you happen to be car-free, I'll offer a discount. There are also two on-street parking spots. If you need more length, we can negotiate. One side of the driveway is my neighbor's organic garden, the other is a walkway and small planting strip. Wherever your front door lands, I'll transplant plants and lay down pavers for mud-free entry. Lavender, rosemary, jasmine and silverberry scent the air around the spot through the year. There is additional space for your own pots/gardening.
Utilities: 50amp 220V electric service (works for 30amp 110V with adapter), high pressure city water, and a 3" sewer connection. Utilities are not included in rent, but I've been tracking my usage for years and will charge for only what you use. I have basic cable internet and there is a strong WiFi signal. Compost currently goes in the yardwaste bin, but I'm open to implementing an on-site system. Washer and Dryer are in the house and their use is included with rent. Use of house kitchen and bathroom is not included.
Location: I'm on 13th near Grant St in the Far West neighborhood. We have many unhoused neighbors who frequent the Little Free Pantry across the street. I do have motion lights and a security camera as deterrents. If you are comfortable locking doors and not leaving possessions in view of the street, this is a safe area. Far West is a lower income neighborhood that is tight-knit and we look out for each other. There is a bike lane, many quiet blocks for pleasant walking, quick access to the Fern Ridge path, and frequent bus service. Downtown is only two miles away!
About me and the house: I'm a a middle aged white cis-het male bicycle engineer who works from home. I share the home with my partner, my cat, and 1-2 others. My current roommate is a small business owner in the bicycle community, musician, and awesome, very busy human. Drinking alcohol is occasional, smoking isn't a thing because my partner is smell/chemical sensitive. Dinner parties, boardgame meetups, backyard fires, etc, are welcome, but infrequent currently.
The house is 3 bedroom, 2 bath, built in 1924. I bought it 5 years ago when it was in terrible shape and have been doing major renovations ever since. Your rent would go directly toward improving the property, not paying my mortgage. My vision is to honor the craftsmanship of the past while preparing the property for it's next hundred years of service to the community. I've converted the front yard to a permaculture food forest and am happy to offer free snacking throughout the year. Mulberries, honeyberries, salalberries, huckleberries, jostaberries, salmonberries, figs, hazelnuts, olives, grapes, and more!
As renovations are ongoing, the backyard is still a construction zone, as is the garage. There will be occasional construction noise during weekdays. Worktrade on projects is an option if you have the skills. $25/hr. Indoor storage is tight currently, so I can really only offer bike parking in the garage. Let me know what your ideal storage wants would be. First, Last, and $200 deposit.
Please respond with a little about yourself and why this space may be right for you! Thanks!
