I bought this truck camper in 2021 with the goal of renovating it into a cozy and contemporary mini-home for myself that I could live in while I attended UO. I did, in fact, live in it for those 3 years of graduate school and it lives like a dream!
Existing Features:
- Bed (double) is a memory foam mattress. Sheets are included. Skylight above bed area works great and has a screen.
- Smart TV (Vizio) works great, though having a FireStick made it work better in my opinion.
- Fridge and mini-freezer works fine, but the camper needs to be level.
- Propane and stove work like a dream!
- RV water pump and tank work (still, I recommend cleaning the system).
- All windows operate and have DIY shades on existing hangers/rods.
- Couch cushions (memory foam) were upholstered by the previous owner and can be converted into a guest bed.
Features I added/repaired/improved:
Loft/Bed area:
- Reinforced the framing, sheathing, and waterproofing under the bed.
- Replaced and framed the large window, ensuring no more water leakage.
- Added extra insulation in the loft/bed area and finished it with stained maple paneling.
Kitchen/Living Area:
- Added 20A fuse into the fuse box (+2 15A fuses) and replaced all outlets and lighting with proper wires and boxes, including a GFCI in the kitchen.
- Gutted kitchen wall to add better insulation and add more electrical throughout the camper.
- Added shelving and spice rack in the kitchen (see photos)
- Enhanced shelves above the kitchen area to hold more and house the TV equipment.
- Refitted new drain pipes for sink.
- Replaced kitchen skylight with a ventilation fan/light combo (sealed properly on the roof).
- Removed small shelf-to-bed and constructed a cabinet system with slightly more space and functionality (see photos)
- Paneled and trimmed all walls and windows with new material.
- Added new vinyl flooring.
Entry Area:
- Gutted the entire bathroom closet to add pantry shelving, firewood box, and shoe cubby.
- Repainted the coat closet cabinet doors with blackboard paint (see photo)
- Added mini lights inside the coat closet and insulated the back walls more.
Exterior:
- Replaced the roof with one sheet of metal, properly sealed.
- Added 2” insulation under the floor and sheathed it with ⅝” plywood.
- Then, added 2x4 and 2x6 reinforcement and “rails” for proper modern truck seating.
- Fixed the stair-mount bracket with a cedar board (so it doesn’t rot out again, funny story).
- Spot-sealed areas that might have water issues.
Areas that could use more attention:
- Propane heated near entry has never worked and I was told it’s likely a broken or outdated part, perhaps a thermostat or solenoid. Not sure.
- There is a shelf/platform ready for a mini wood stove, complete with proper insulation and heat shielding. Sadly, I just never got around to buying one… but it’s ready for one!
- The pipes from the water pump to the sink faucets could use some attention.
- I highly recommend investing in new leg jacks since the current set of 4 are getting a bit rusty and slow.
I hope I’ve included enough detail here, but if you have any more questions, please feel free to reach out with a call at (area code: two one eight) 428 - 2300 or by email.
At the moment, I can and will only show it to serious buyers. This camper has been very reliable to me and I’m letting it go because I have no room for it or any need for it like I used to. The camper is highly sentimental to me. I just hope it can serve a new occupant well too!
