Hi there, my name is Christopher and I help run an intentional community located near Mapleton(about 1 hr west of Eugene). We have an RV site available, able to fit small to medium RVs.(~32ft max)
About the place:
We are located about 6 miles down a gravel road right on the Siuslaw River, with our own private river access and about 4.5 acres of land. There are a collection of RVs and small cabins for housing, located within eyesight of each other but still fairly private(think neighbors, but not apartments type privacy). We have power, running(non potable) water, internet(starlink), and make use of composting toilets on site. We bring potable water in from a local spring nearby.
There is a main lodge which offers laundry facilities, showers and bath, full residential kitchen, TV, and decent size living room for rec space. There is a woodstove which gathers much attention in the winter, and is considered the heart of the lodge.
We have a main meadow, which is used for fires and the occasional party, as well as a middle and lower field.
The middle field has a blueberry patch with heirloom blueberries, several fruit trees including; apples, pears, quince, and some more.
The lower field is private, but with permission of its caretaker you may check it out, it has several trees, a lower garden, and is home to our long term composting areas.
About the people:
There are currently 8 people here, and we are all a little neurodivergent, and as such each have our own social life and schedules. There is no obligation to socialize, though we do have sporadic community dinners, evening game nights, and movie nights. These are usually spurred by a single person being in the house ready to start these nights, but are occasionally scheduled.
Expectations:
Monthly financial contribution of $550 to the shared expenses of the land. This covers power, running(non-potable) water, potable water(brought in), internet, and daily necessities like TP, paper towels, dish soap, laundry soap, bleach, among other small things.
You must bring your own RV, or use the one available, and have a reliable vehicle to commute to town as necessary.
Help with various land chores which include: potable water runs, composting toilet maintenance, wood days, and dump runs. This totals 5-8 hrs per month per person, or less. We work with people schedules and abilities, so please communicate what your skills are as there may be other things to do if you're not interested/able to do these.
Be respectful of others spaces, including the community lodge. This means:
Cleaning up after yourself. If you use dishes, wash and put them away, clean counters, and if necessary sweep/mop the floors.
If all this sounds interesting to you, reach out with a bit about yourself. Please include you work situation, some back story, and if there's anything specific you'd like to share or ask.
We are looking forward to bringing in another cool person!
