I’m looking for thoughtful, stable housemates for a spacious shared home in a beautiful forested area next to Hendricks Park. Right now there is one room available, but soon there may be up to three rooms available total depending on timing and how we decide to arrange the house...
One of the upstairs rooms has its own bathroom, and I’m open to two possible setups depending on everyone’s budget and household needs:
We rent that room as a third private bedroom.
-OR-
We keep it as a shared office/bathroom and create more shared work/common space for the house.
**I want to be upfront about that from the beginning so people who are interested can think about what kind of setup would feel best.**
ROOMS
Downstairs bedroom — $800 base rent
Approx. 9'6" x 11'2".
Closet is about 3'3" x 3'1".
There is also an extra linen closet just outside the room.
This is the only downstairs bedroom, which gives it a bit more separation from the upstairs part of the house.
It gets great natural light, comparable to the upstairs bedroom.
It is close to the kitchen and a bathroom, so it may be a good fit for someone who prefers less stair use.
Upstairs bedroom — $800 base rent
Approx. 9'2" x 12'6", plus an additional 2'10" x 7' area that gives the room a little extra shape and usable space.
Closet is about 2'5" x 5'.
This room gets direct sunlight.
It has a built-in desk nook, which is a nice bonus if you like having a dedicated study/work area in the room itself.
It is next to the office/bathroom room upstairs.
Upstairs office/bathroom room — $900 if rented as a private bedroom
Approx. 11'6" x 9'2".
Closet is about 3'3" x 5'8", plus another small extra closet.
This room has the bathroom attached.
Depending on what works best financially for the household, this room may either be rented as a bedroom or kept as a shared office/bathroom for the house.
If we decide to keep this room as a shared office instead of renting it out privately, everyone in the house would contribute an additional $300 toward that shared space, since $900 is the value of that room.
HOUSE
The house itself is the real draw. It is spacious, very beautiful in a warm and lived-in way, and has huge windows, wood-paneled walls, a fireplace, and a cabin-like feel without being far from town.
The common areas are furnished. The two or three available bedrooms are unfurnished, but the shared spaces are already set up and very livable.
There is a lot of land around the house, plenty of room for gardening, and space for chickens or outdoor projects. It feels tucked into nature, with forest, quiet, and beautiful light, but it is still very close to town.
I’m open to creating some sense of community in the house — shared meals once in a while, gardening, being friendly and cooperative — but I am not trying to force a commune vibe on anyone. Independent people are welcome too. I just want a respectful, grounded, communicative household.
I do prefer some communal purchasing of basics like toilet paper and dish soap so we are not constantly nickel-and-diming each other over household essentials.
This is a pet household, so comfort around animals is important. We do not have capacity for additional animals at this time, unless they are staying in your room (terrariums, etc).
NEIGHBORHOOD
Next to Hendricks Park.
Forested setting with hiking trails all around.
About 5 minutes by car to town.
About 10 minutes by bike.
Quiet, green, and unusually spacious for how close it is to Eugene.
ACCESSIBILITY
The downstairs bedroom may be the best fit for someone who wants to minimize stair use, since it is the only bedroom downstairs and is near the kitchen and a bathroom.
The upstairs rooms require stairs.
The outdoor areas are natural and wooded, so the land is not flat or highly manicured.
PRICES
Current base pricing is:
Downstairs bedroom: $800
Upstairs bedroom: $800
Office/bathroom room: $900 if used as a private bedroom
Utilities are not included and usually range around $60–100 per month per person.
If the office/bathroom room stays a shared office instead of being rented as a bedroom, each person in the household would contribute an additional $300 toward that shared space.
WHO I’M LOOKING FOR
I’m looking for people who are communicative, reasonably tidy, financially responsible, and respectful of shared space. A good fit would be someone who likes beauty, quiet, nature, and a home that feels more personal and grounded than a generic rental.
If you reply, please tell me a little about yourself, your budget, your move-in timing, and which room/setup you’d be most interested in.
