We are a multi-generational, LGBTQIA+ friendly, diverse background-seeking co-op household whose residents are caring, supportive, and usually very busy.
Our living philosophy emphasizes flow and flux, a co-operative spirit, and a shared respect for each other's needs. We base decisions on consensus, meaning we discuss until we reach an agreement.
It's more effort than a traditional rental as housemates share the work that would traditionally be taken on by a landlord (yard work, maintenance, general care and upkeep). It’s a time commitment that enables rents to remain affordable. So, if you are looking for a community to contribute to in addition to benefiting from affordable rent, this may be for you.
We are particularly interested in people who are looking to settle in for the long run who are kind, caring, passionate, have good communication skills and a respectful and flexible demeanor. Shorter term leases may be considered on a case-by-case basis. Pets may be considered on a case by case basis.
We share organic, vegetarian food and cook dinner for each other 5 nights a week (meat eaters welcome-we store meat in a separate kitchen), and we each contribute $180 to shared food in addition to our rent, we buy in bulk, and we maintain an extensive pantry. We compost and garden, do household chores, walk and bike, play board games on occasion, have weekly house meetings, monthly work parties, and monthly community potluck dinners.
There is currently one cat, lots of bright common space, lots of books, two kitchens, hardwood floors, fruit trees, berries and all manner of produce in our organic garden. Rent is $575 which includes all utilities and high speed internet.
