House companion search
This is not your normal housemate ad. I am a soft-bellied, wild-dew-eyed, fire-lit seeker, seeking my matching puzzle piece for awesome house companionship. I have a high bar, and you should too. I’m looking for 1, maybe 2 roommates for sharing an awesome 4 bedroom house with me, in a connected way. $900 rent plus 200 flat fee utilities, $1400 (rent plus utilities) for the right couple. Space is available mid-April. Read on and see if we seem like a match.
Who I am: I’m a deeply feeling human female, 42 years old, mostly European heritage white person, who walks with the weight of the world tugging at me (damn, that’s heavy). I do my work to heal, stand up for justice and world change, find my unique gifts to offer—and recently been so burned out I’ve learned how to hunker into self care and turn up the ease and self-compassion. I tend community, tend garden, make herbal medicine, learn about the culture of the land, learn about my own cultures and ancestors, honor the seasons as they change; I teach and watch and harvest plants. I know a lot of things about feelings and health. I am working on good boundaries and balance. I weave willow, learn about the world and how to be a good part of it, and resist despair by grieving as much and as often as I celebrate and laugh. I regularly make emotive sounds as part of my healing work, and thus need someone comfortable overhearing me laugh or cry from the other room. I have good boundaries and don’t expect my roommate to be my therapist. I’d like to find someone to be a companion to tend home with that shares some affinity to what I speak to here. I like a lot of different kind of people and I strive to learn from and about people very different from me. I’m clearly in the weird camp, though: pansexual, polyamorous, sex positive, primal harvester of roadkill and naked cavorter of rivers.
I love sharing food. I eat generally local and whole food. I love pastured meats, lots of veggies, creative salads, and occasionally a bag of chips and salsa or tater tots. I’m no purist, but I am into health and I generally am always learning about it.
Who I seek: A good match with me will be someone with great communication, a generally positive and proactive personality, passions to pursue and gifts to give the world. I’d be thrilled if this match were also a project partner for things like canning, gardening, fixing, and cooking. Even better would be a companion for sharing stories and feelings, fires and craft nights, dinner parties, and taking care of each other when we are sick. Let’s nurture a household of sharing, generosity, reciprocity. My perfect match will be self reliant, able to love having their alone space and not see me every day, but also love connecting when we do.
I see my new house companion as someone who can easily speak their mind and needs in a self-responsible and respectful way, and wants to live somewhere for at least 2 years (more?).
The situation: Two bedrooms and your own bathroom on ground floor of 4 bedroom house, shared living room and kitchen, with auditory privacy/separation from my bedrooms. Washer/dryer. Nice quiet/private backyard and open garden space. Another rental space is in the backyard, but the big house shared with only me. Landlord is a family friend and amicable/flexible with us; you sublet from me directly, as I manage the house. River road neighborhood, Eugene. Two blocks to the river. 1 mile to grocery outlet. No smoking anything please, no hard drugs, mild use of alcohol. People who are heavy cannabis users won’t be a good fit for me. I have a cat. Not that into more pets but will consider them on case by case basis (with extra deposit). No big dogs, no high-energy dogs. Space is available mid-April, date TBA. Yes, deposits will be required but we can negotiate within reason. References required (personal ok).
Note about my process: Please write me something about you—who are you and what makes you tick? What makes you think we would be a good match? What’s happening in your life right now?—I just want to hear something that is an authentic expression of you, as a person. Don’t get too tied up about it, it doesn’t have to be a grand masterpiece or poetically lofty like me. Just be yourself. If I don’t respond, please don’t fret. I will respond to those letters that I feel an intuitive resonance with. Thanks for taking the time to consider me, and let me consider you!
p.s. If the fact that I posted this on the new moon with intention is exciting to you, that is another plus.
