Social media/program assistant

We are looking for an enthusiastic team member who can shift quickly among a variety of projects and is comfortable working in an office and occasionally in retail and warehouse settings. The right applicant will help our project stay organized, maintain scheduling for travel, meetings, and keep us on track to meet due dates for our deliverables, while also working on our social media presence, helping us communicate the right message on the right platform. Strong research and writing skills required. Our most successful team members are innovative thinkers and hard workers.

Duties and responsibilities:
• Develop and maintain travel, meeting and project calendars to ensure the team is meeting its goals
• Our team sometimes helps out in warehouse and retail environments. That means many unexpected tasks, from shelving books to deconstructing old mattresses are sometimes part of the job
• Research and write communication materials for print and online
• Edit and manage website and social media accounts
• Monitor and engage in relevant social discussions about our company, competitors, and/or industry
• Drive consistent, relevant traffic and leads from our social network presence
• Track, measure and analyze all initiatives to report on social media ROI
• Research, write and design social enterprise best practices, guidebooks, and white papers on sustainable materials management
• Research funders, both private and public and develop outreach strategies
• Other duties as assigned

Knowledge, skills and abilities

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office required (Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint)
• Working knowledge of WordPress. (InDesign, Photoshop, Acrobat familiarity a plus)
• Ability to develop and maintain social media presence, including a web site, Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn
• Attention to detail
• Interpersonal skills: a team player with excellent verbal and written communication skills, comfortable working independently and in a team
• Adaptability: manage work flow in a shifting environment
• Past marketing experience preferred
• Familiarity with recycling, reuse, sustainability and materials management a plus

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree with minimum of two years related experience in writing, marketing and communications
• Language skills: Ability to read and interpret documents from grant applications to operating manuals

Wage: $17.50/hr
