condition: excellent
make / manufacturer: Pedulla
model name / number: Rapture RB-J2
Ladies & germs, a 1998 Pedulla Rapture, fretless, in 5-string flavor. There is a nice light honey stain over the soft Eastern maple body, with a tort pickguard (everyone knows you play like a god with a tort pickguard). The neck is one piece, flatsawn hard rock maple & the fingerboard was refinished with the proprietary "DiamondKote" epoxy by Michael & crew in 2017. String-spacing is 17.5mm (I'm 95% sure on that). Perfect for us fingerstyle players!!

This beauty may be 26 years old now, but she shows very little wear anywhere. There is some scuffing on the pickguard & a couple small finish dings on the face, but their are only two spots where you can see any signs of use. On the side of the headstock, on the bass side, & on the very bottom of the neck right at the heel. You can see them in the included pictures.

Tonewise...fretless mwah for days. It's a Pedulla & Mike makes...well, he used to make, arguably the best fretless necks in the world. This thing has mwah on open notes! The electronics recipe is all original; Bartolini P/U's & 2-band preamp. Volume & blend round out the knob set. As for the B-string, well holy crap! No 34" scale neck should have a B this good! It rivals my old Lakland.

The bass was the recipient of a fresh set-up just 2 weeks ago, intonation is perfect, & the action is nice & low. It has brand new nickel Elixir Nanoweb's installed.

Full disclosure; I'm including the original truss rod tool, but yes, this Rapture does suffer from the dreaded & all too common "Pedulla truss rod issue". Some ham-fisted tech used an improper truss rod tool at some point, & damaged the adjustment end. However, you can use a flat head screwdriver & accomplish truss adjustments (also quite common).

Along with the OHSC, adjustment tool, leather strap, case key, & placard, I will also include a very nice piece of pickguard material. I had originally intended to use it for the Rapture, but just got too busy. It has only been out of its cardboard sleeve twice & is in brand new condition.

If I played fretless exclusively, I would NEVER sell this bass. It's the best fretless I've ever owned in 35 years, bar none. However, I don't & I am trying to raise funds for a motorcycle to commute with. Also, a bass this nice deserves to be played instead of hanging around in a closet, only to be brought out for special occasions. My loss, your gain.

Feel free to text, I will consider offers. No scammers, low-ballers, blah, blah, ubiquitous comments...If you ask if it's still available, I will gladly ignore you & block your number. 5four1seven8oh5one4oh
