DETAILED DESCRIPTION:
AMPEG BIG M15 INFO: The Ampeg Big M15 combo was manufactured from 1959 to 1963 as the flagship amp for Ampeg. At the time, these amps were a little spendy but very high quality and considered one of the best amps of the era.
Features include 25+ watts RMS with two 6L6 power tubes into a USA made 15" Jensen C15N Alnico 5 speaker. Two fully separate channels with independent controls and up to 6 inputs on the front panel. The sound is a very clear warm tone and lots of clean headroom. It also had a tube driven Tremolo controlled by a foot pedal.
THIS BIG M: This Big M is all original and in great condition. Nothing is modified, missing, or broken and everything works like it is supposed to. The cabinet, tolex, grill cloth, hardware, and speaker are all original, very clean, and in great working shape. Check out the pictures closely. The electronics were recently serviced by Mike LaBar Electronics. The 2 prong power cord was replaced with a modern 3 prong and the original Tremolo footpedal cable was replaced with a new cloth braided cable. New 6L6GC power tubes were installed and the power output measured 27.8 watts RMS.
TONE AND PLAYABILITY: The sound of this amp will blow your mind! Its dead quiet when idling. The sound is warm and responsive. When cranked it is really loud and the tone is clear, clean, balanced, and warm. The 2 channels sound very different from each other and when the channels are linked with a jumper cable there are infinite sonic possibilities. The amp is a perfect pedal platform and takes pedals very well. In short, this BIG M has tone! Ya gotta hear it!
