This is a deep expressive controller for MPE synths, software instruments, hardware synths, modular-adjacent setups, and sound-design-heavy workflows. Instead of a traditional moving-key mechanism, the K-Board Pro 4 uses KMI’s Smart Sensor Fabric technology under each key, allowing multidimensional control from the playing surface itself.
KMI describes the K-Board Pro 4 as a 48-key MPE MIDI keyboard controller that sends attack velocity, release velocity, continuous pressure, horizontal position, and vertical position data for expressive playing. It is also USB-powered and class-compliant, making it portable and compatible with computers and MIDI-capable hardware setups.
The included KMI MIDI Expander adds extra value for hardware-focused setups, especially if you want to integrate the K-Board Pro 4 with MIDI gear outside a computer-based rig. KMI currently lists the MIDI Expander as a $39 accessory.
