We are seeking compassionate, reliable individuals to join a small, dedicated team supporting an adult man with high support needs in his home and in the community. One position may also include additional leadership responsibilities, such as teamcoordination and supporting caregivers with documentation and scheduling tasks.
About Him
He is a funny, charismatic person with a playful sense of humor and a strong personality. He enjoys being active and having fun – attending community events, live music, karaoke, cooking, bowling, hiking, biking, skateboardingand day trips. He also appreciates thoughtful conversation about life, relationships, and learning, and values supporters who can engage with him both socially and intellectually.
Communication may include spoken words, repeated phrases, gestures, facial expressions, eye gaze, or guiding. He feels most secure with supporters who take the time to understand his communication style and who can provide clear, respectful boundaries to support his safety and well-being.
Support Responsibilities Include:
• Assisting with daily routines, scheduling, and organization
• Preparing healthy meals and carefully checking labels to avoid allergens
• Maintaining a clean and well-organized home environment (high standards)
• Providing personal care support, including restroom assistance, hygiene, and showering
• Supporting participation in community activities and outings
• Communicating with the team and completing required documentation
He receives 24-hour support, including some two-staff shifts. All team members play an important role in helping ensure consistency, safety, and quality of life. Attention to detail and reliability are essential. Workplace culture emphasizes strong work ethic and is also supportive and celebratory.
Requirements:
• Valid driver’s license and insured vehicle (mileage reimbursed)
• Cell phone and comfort using apps and texting for communication and documentation
• Strong reliability and consistency
• Respect for diversity and commitment to person-centered support
• Willingness to learn and grow in the role
• Ability to commit for at least one year
• Moderate physical ability and stamina in order to accompany client in activities and complete support responsibilities.
Schedule:
• Fridays 4:00 pm -8:00pm
• Saturdays: 9:00 am – 8:00 pm
• Sundays: 9:00 am – 8:00 pm Flexible options include half-day, full-day, or every-other-weekend shifts.
This is a part-time role designed toprevent burnout and support sustainable work-life balance. Most team members have other jobs, are students or have family they care for. Additional hours may be available occasionally to cover shifts and support the team.
Training and Support: We provide paid training shifts with experienced team members, as well as 1:1 training with his behavior specialist.His current team includes folks who have been with him for years (even decades!) and are a great resource for learning. OIS training required and provided within 90 days of hire. Basic first aid/CPR also required.
Compensation: $21.75 or $30 per hour, depending on employee choice. Full benefits available at 10 or more hours/week with a wage of $21.75/hr. Non-benefitted part time wage of $30/hr.
Hiring Process: The interview process includes:
1 An in-person interview with his mother/guardian and team manager
2 A casual introductory meeting with him (with support present) to ensure a good mutual fit
