These adorable little creatures look like they stepped out of a fairy tale! They are ducks, of course, but they have silkie feathers like a silkie chicken! They are hardy in our area, but do require shelter from rain, as they can become "soggy" since their silkie feathers can't hold the oil like normal ducks feathers in order to make them water proof. They still love to swim and get wet/dirty, like normal ducks, though!
They are a bantam breed, so they're around the size of a call duck, but not nearly as noisy. That doesn't mean they're quiet, they're still ducks...just not as excessively talkative as my call ducks.
The silkie gene is recessive, so they must carry 2 copies of the gene in order to have the silkie feathers. A silkie "split" carries one copy of the silkie gene but has normal duck feathers. All the birds for sale here are silkie feathered.
They are individually priced based on size and color and they all hatched this spring. They are seasonal layers like all bantam duck breeds, so they only lay in the spring and will happily hatch their own eggs if you let them.
I have 1 drake available as well, for $200. He is appleyard colored (not pictured)
There is a discount if you get 3 or more of them. Feel free to text or email with any questions! I will also have hatching eggs and ducklings available in the Spring. They are only sold unsexed, though, so this is your only chance to acquire guaranteed female silkie ducks. Ducklings will start at $50 each and hatching eggs will be $25 each.
