It's transplant time! Native polystitchum minutum, also called the "sword," or "Christmas fern."
INSTANT LANDSCAPE! Large bareroot clumps $25 or 5 for $100. Bagging available. Free local delivery for 20 - 50. ($25 each with delivery outside area.)
These are mature, large habit plants that grow several feet high and wide, but that can be divided, or trained to be dwarfed.
Ferns are very hardy plants and can be transplanted most seasons, and although they shed some fronds each year, transplanting now ensures minimal loss and maximal gain. Grown under ideal conditions, even the first year the sheer number of new fronds can be staggering. (And they are edible!)
We are Noble Ridge Tree Farm, primarily a family-owned Christmas tree farm established in 1965 but practice sustainable farming methods such as salvaging native plants where needed rather than poisoning or destroying them.
Beware of buying ferns from non-licensed sources that may not be ethically sourced. These are often stolen from the national forest or even parks!
