Diet: unlimited grass hay in nets, 1 lb of soaked alfalfa pellets with California Trace Plus vitamin/mineral balancer.
Scarlet is a sweet mare looking for her forever partner. She had to be rescued previously from starvation. She has an old scar on her hind that doesn’t bother her or have heat/swelling. Her next owner got her health back up, and took great care of her. Initially I brought her on to be a companion to my horse on rest, and then be a riding horse for my daughter.
We have put a lot of time and ground work into her but she’s unfortunately not the best fit with my herd, or my daughter.
She needs an intermediate and up level of rider. She is not suitable as a first horse, or for a beginner. She is not finished in any discipline.
Pros:
☑️ She’s very sweet
☑️ She can stand hard tied (she will paw)
☑️ She can ride WTC in a snaffle
☑️ More go than woah
☑️ Up to date on deworming, vaccinations, and dental.
☑️ Will receive a trim next week
☑️ Currently barefoot, but I would recommend boots or shoes on rocky terrain.
☑️ Can be turned out with other horses
☑️ Not afraid of tractors or ATV’s
☑️ good on fences
Cons:
☑️ Hard to catch on pasture but not impossible, always able to catch with persistence
☑️ VERY herd bound
☑️ Can be squealy/kicky with new horses but usually calms down within a short period
☑️ Can be slow to get on the trailer, but always gets in if you are patient and not pushy
☑️ Did kick me last trim although that was not typical of her.
☑️ Has reared with a rider
Will vet all homes thoroughly as this mare deserves a good home, not looking for someone who is looking to resell. We are not in a rush to find a new place for her. Her price will go up as more training is put into her.
