Rabbits are one of the most reliable sources of homegrown meat around. Keeping just three adult (1 male and 2 females) rabbits can easily produce over 200 pounds of meat a year! Raising rabbits takes up relatively little space – they can be kept in a corner of the backyard or in a small shed with no noises to worry about.
Rabbit meat is lean and versatile, taking well to cooking in the frying pan, in the oven, on the grill or smoker, and even to being canned for long-term preservation. It is similar to chicken in texture and flavor, although we typically find our rabbits to be much juicier than most chicken we’ve had. It is also simple to process your own rabbits at home with minimal equipment.
Given how awesome rabbits are for anyone interested in being more self-sufficient and producing their own food, we are excited to offer folks the opportunity to come out and join us for a hands-on workshop where you can learn exactly how we harvest rabbits on our homestead.
First, we will demonstrate the process for you to watch and share the tips and tricks we have learned along the way. Then you will get to process your very own rabbit to take home and enjoy! These rabbits will be at the ideal age for processing and weigh approximately 6 pounds each at the time of the workshop.
We have rabbits ready now through July. We are flexible on the days and times.
Please let us know if you'd like to be on the waiting list
The cost for each participant is $120 and includes the demonstration, one-on-one instruction while you are processing your rabbit, and of course the delicious rabbit that you processed to bring home and enjoy for dinner! Each session is limited to two participants in total and will last for ~2 hours.

"It reminded me of growing up and watching my grandmother process rabbits. The skill was lost in my family, but I'm so happy to have it back again! Thank you so much!"
