The short story;
I have a '92 Ford GT 5.0 5-Spd with a clear construction title that needs work. So this could be a project or parts.
I've owned my Mustang for 15 years. The biggest problem right now is the throwout bearing is failing. The car is running but the bearing is a little noisy so I quit driving it in hopes it could be driven to a shop.
I can no longer do my own car work due to age, medical problems and the lack of work area & amount of work it needs.
It has a construsction title, as it was totaled when the original owner hit a curb at 60mph while drunk. It was repaired and it's been a great car. Even though it needs a paint job it doesn't look too bad. The best part of this car is the engine. It's strong, tight & only uses oil when it's overdue for a change.
The Good & Bad;
The transmission works with no issues; however, it is a little noisy. I suspect it needs a rebuild. The rear-end ratio is too high (2:73). I have a good 3:73 ratio ring & pinion (w/speedo ratio gear) available.
The Driver door hinge bushings were worn out. I replaced the pins, bushings and the upper hinge body bracket. The bushings didn't last long, so there seems to be an alignment issue, probably from the wreck.
I installed a Drawtite Trailer Hitch which is rated the same as the car; 200lb tongue weight & 2000lb trailer weight. I installed air shocks & airbags inside the rear springs. I tows trailers great but it would be better with the 3:73 gears installed which I have. I have no idea how many miles are on the rear end but it probably should be gone through while installing the ring & pinion.
The transmission works well in all gears but I believe it should have a rebuilt kit.
I had trouble getting it to run & discovered the computer had the bad capacitor problem they are known for.
I also found out it was the wrong computer. It was a computer for a car with an automatic transmission.
I found a used stick shift computer that had new capacitors and installed it.
I have parts that the car needs so the price of this offer would vary depending on what the buyer wants.
