These desks are the type used in the old one-room schools used by the original homesteaders of western America. Originally they were grouped together on a couple of 3/4" boards screwed to the desk's cast iron feet. Those boards were removed for storage. (I probably still have those boards. If I find them I'll include them with the set.)
