The Mirage story began in 1979 with Jeff Percy, Jeff Soltysek, Patrick Dempster as well as famous Speaker Designer / Engineer Kevin Voecks (Revel and Snell Acoustics) came on board to create the initial Mirage designs, and the rest is audio history.
The award winning "M" line of Mirage (Audio Products International / *API) Canada was their Top-of-the line audio products
* M-3si Speaker Design: Bipolar radiator, vented, half-hemispherical cabinet design
The "si" version of the M-3's featured a 8oz heavier magnet on the woofer (28oz vs 20oz), a more sophisticated crossover design, PTH (Pure Titanium Hybrid) tweeters, carbon impregnated midrange and woofer cones and a beefed up internal cabinet with thicker outer walls and internal bracing.
The Mirage M-3si engineers focused on four areas as being critical to the product's improvement - tweeter design, crossover points and slopes, midrange and woofer cone materials, and cabinet construction. Mirage's Pure Titanium Hybrid (PTH) tweeter is the first dynamic tweeter which can claim the transparency achieved with electrostatic or ribbon designs while eliminating the sonic overhang typical of those designs.
Many enthusiasts say the M-3si are more refined sounding and punchier than the original M-1's
