King Retail Solutions, a leading design and manufacturer of retail interiors and decor, is hiring for a Planner. This position works Monday-Friday, 7:30am-4pm.
The Planner is an integral part of our Client Services team, working to bring creative designs from concept to completion. Through estimating, product development, creation, and management of accurate Bill of Materials and Routers, we manufacture interior signage, décor, and fixtures for retail spaces using wood, metal, and plastics.
The Planner will manage evolving SKUs throughout the product lifecycle, including program maintenance, value engineering, and product improvements to reduce cost and increase efficiency for both manufacturing and installation. Collaboration with Detailers, Account Managers, Sales, Purchasing, Scheduling, Design, Install, and Production is done on a daily basis.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Analyze and define scope of projects parts.
Collaborate across multiple departments during product development to determine cost-effective and efficient ways to manufacture and install designs.
Determine Bills of Materials and Production Methods/Steps (Routings) and enter them accurately into MRP system.
Perform routine job costing analysis to determine any potential adjustments needed to parts.
Apply best practices and adhere to SOP for various types of products and materials.
Responsible for timely production set up to facilitate and meet production deadlines.
Follow up on job order progress and issues in Production.
Review shop drawings and architectural drawings, cost estimates and various reports for accuracy and completeness.
Assist in organizing and actively participate in and/or lead Production and Install ‘kick off’ meetings.
Collaborate with the Installation Team on projects to identify any concerns prior to production.
Collaborate with manufacturing Supervisors and Leads to assess ‘best practice’ for manufacturing, packaging, and crating processes.
Education & Experience:
HS Diploma or GED equivalent; AA or BS degree preferred
1 to 2 years of related experience in:
Knowledge, Skills and other Abilities:
Project and time management skills.
High level of organization and the ability to keep timelines and due dates.
Demonstrates good judgment and decision making.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Outlook.
Proficiency in MRP and ERP software.
Ability to think and conceptualize products and spaces in 3D.
Ability to read shop drawings; ability to read architectural drawings and elevations preferred.
Understanding of material properties and how different materials will interact with each other and the surrounding elements and environment.
Ability to communicate professionally in the business environment.
Mathematical abilities including statistical inference, practical mathematics, mathematical reasoning, and problem-solving techniques; related primarily to the engineering, construction, and fabrication of décor furnishings and architectural design elements. This includes a comprehensive command and application of algebra, geometry, and trigonometry. While not essential, candidates with a level of understanding and/or proficiency in the principles of classical mechanics and physics are preferred.
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
