Chimayo/Rio Grande Saltillo Style Rug - $145 (Eugene)

condition: good
make / manufacturer: Probable Chimayo weaving
model name / number: Chimayo/Rio Grande style
size / dimensions: 47" x 85"
This is a circa 1940-50 large rug thought to have originated in the small Spanish community of Chimayo, New Mexico.
It's design is consistent with that of old Mexican Saltillo serapes and is referred to as Chimayo or Rio Grande style which have the central diamond as a common feature.

The rug is approximately 47" x 85". It has a fairly tight weave--warp of 11/inch; weft of 19/inch. It is done in beautiful natural dyed earth tones.

There is no staining or discoloring. Minor unraveling is seen at each end but the main body has no wear.

This is a very nice, well cared for piece.
