A collection of art works by black artists done during the height of the Civil Rights Movement 1960-1971.

-Cover featuring art by Charles White, “17(Mother/Child) from the “Wanted Poster Series”.

-Introduction by Edmund W. Gordon, explaining the purpose of this portfolio “….to make available to secondary school pupils examples of art work they are unlikely to otherwise encounter…..”

-4 page 1966 essay by Professor James A. Porter, Howard University, outlining “one hundred and fifty years of afro-american art”

-8 plates, each dedicated to individual artists, including biographical text, and illustrations by: Ernest Crichlow, Selma Burke, Lois Marilou Jones, Richard Hunt, Charles White, Elizabeth Catlett, Hale Woodrull, and Richard Mayhew

Portfolio is 19/12 inches, inner plates approximate same size. Some wear due to humidity changes.
