An antique, circa 1890-1910, Catholic Eucharist sick call wooden shadow box, used to give a person who is dying last rites in the Catholic religion.
This early 20th century icon for Catholic homes features a solid oak framed shadow box wall niche, flanking a chalkware La Pietà sculpture of Jesus and Mary set behind reverse painted glass panel.
The bottom panel with oak framed depictions of the Last Supper drops down to form an altar or shelf, and reveals an interior compartment with a silver communion paten and candle holders.
