Archie Boyd Teater (May 5, 1901 - July 18, 1978) was an American landscape and genre artist who painted in an impressionist style. He has been estimated to have painted more than 4000 paintings in his lifetime, making him one of the "most prolific painters in the U.S.". His work featured western scenes, mining camps, Jackson Hole, the Teton Mountains, San Francisco buildings, and also some still lifes.
Of the subsequent Jackson Hole artists, he is probably the best known,, and is also known to be unsurpassed in his paintings of the Tetons.
Up for sale is one of his ORIGINAL oil paintings on canvas (not a print). Very rare!
I was 14 years old in the early 1970's, traveling with my parents on a summertime cross country trip, which included a stop in Jackson Hole Wyoming, where we visited Archie's studio, and my parents purchased this painting. It is 20-inches wide & 8-inches high. Mom & Dad have passed away, so I'm selling a few family things that I've inherited.
According to ArtValue.com regarding a similar painting, "this should range between $1000 - $2000 with the last of it's type selling for $1900".
I will sell mine for $1800 cash on a first come, first serve basis. LOCAL in person deal only!! NO SHIPPING!!!
