The bedroom is small, unfurnished (can use thick foam pad for bed if needed) and has a patio door that goes to a large, shaded balcony (really nice on these hot days!). The living/dining area and kitchen are average size; bathroom has a shower/tub. This apartment has been remodeled so it's much nicer than the usual campus place (looks average from the outside though).

This is for August only (thru Aug 31), but I'd be open to looking for another place together (if needed). Prefer another female, over 21; not 420 friendly. The apartment is too small for a couple or frequent overnight guests. No pets are allowed on the property - landlord's rule.

I want to keep things fairly tidy and clean (not spotless!) and on the mellow side (no loud music or blaring TV all evening), so this would be best for a serious student or working adult. I'm working flexible hours and do some volunteer work so I'm in and out a lot.

We are a small rural desert ranch & organic farm with a natural hot water source that flows 25 gallons per minute at 125 degrees f. (51c), located on a hillside in the Salton Sea area of the California desert, 2 and a half hours east of Los Angeles, and 1 hour and 15 minutes southeast of Palm Springs.
Quite remote and secluded in a beautiful desert setting, this is the third incarnation of a family farm that began in the 1920's, and we have a lot of experience in organic orcharding. Our main crop here is dates and we have 5 varieties: medjool, barhi, zahidi, khadrawi and halawi....and we also have some young plantings of fig, jujube, sweet pomegranite, carob and sweet lime. Right now we need a hand, not on the farm, but in the local mountains where we are clearing some trails and eradicating tamarisk trees. So this would involve some serious hiking skills. We are balancing our time between the farm and the wilderness, in a region that looks a bit like Joshua Tree or Death Valley but with a strong flowing stream of water, all surrounded by Indian Reservation & National Monument.
We will provide a private bedroom and a bicycle... in exchange for some part time help. You would need to meet any other personal expenses.
The local desert is awesome for exploring with lots of trails and open valleys, wild canyons and some big mountains about an hours drive away. The recent rains are making some beautiful waterfalls. The weather this time of year is hot. Native artifacts have been discovered on the land, and we have magnificent desert sunsets. Parts of the movie "Into The Wild" were filmed near here where his experiences took place.
We are into mostly veggie foods, hiking, farming, yoga, videos, bathing in our hot & cool salty pools.....and creative simple living in a tobacco, drug & alcohol free environment. We would like to connect with environmentally conscious earthy folks who share similar values, for this living situation and work. Serious backpackers are welcome.
A month or 2 ? Whatever works. We can fetch people at Greyhound (Indio) if you don't have a car. We have internet access, a guest phone and shared kitchen. Sorry but we are not set up for kids or pets at this time.

I am looking for someone to sublet my studio for the winter term. The rent is currently $525, all utilities (electric too) included. I think the rent increase a little bit--$20-40, depending on what the landlord decides. The place is very nice--hardwood floors, lots of light, backyard area, kitchenette, bathroom, all the standards. Everything works no problem, and the landlord is very nice and would attend to any problems you have. Close to U of O, downtown, restaurants, laundry mat...pretty much everything. Reliable Wi-fi included with extra fee. Pets are possible (I have cat, who will not be there when you are there), but I imagine you will need a deposit or something. Dates: My exact dates are not firmly fixed, but the sublet would be approximately from 12/20-3-25. The dates include at minimum the entire U of O winter term: 1/5-3/20. But I think I will be gone during the breaks as well. I will probably leave right after the fall terms ends, around 12/17, but I can work with you on this date (could be earlier). And I would return sometime during the week of spring break, which is 3/23-3/27. (Again, flexible).
