The subject heading really says it all: we're looking for an experienced musician who is committed to laying down the 2/4 skank over and over and over and over and over again; perhaps varying the tone of your guitar (or keyboard) sound and the rhythm (skank, double skank, dry skank, muted skank) of the groove but always, always landing on the 2's and 4's in an inflexible sort of way. In other words: we are looking for a discipled, ego-less musician who relishes reggae music and the feel of rhythmic unity with the other musicians in the band - a person who stays within the framework of the skank and who, in doing so, transcends such a framework.
Now, to be forthright, we have a gig coming up in two weeks and we'd like to quickly find someone for this role. Our material is very simple though extensive. Someone wishing to be a permanent member in our group is more than welcome, as is a person who wishes to simply step forward for shows (we currently play about 2-3 a month). The only requisite here, really, is your commitment to the skank.
Tell us something about yourself - and we'll respond with a link to our myspace site and with answers to any questions you might have.
Thank you.
