RESPONSIBILITIES <br>
Purchasing<br>
1.	Negotiate with suppliers for favorable prices, terms, quality, and delivery. <br>
2.	Coordinate sale specials, demos, and utilize available advertising (co-op ads). <br>
3.	Evaluate suppliers and investigate new sources of supply. <br>
4.	Receive orders, or ensure proper receiving by other staff in accordance with established procedures. Keep accurate receiving records. <br>
5.	Coordinate returns and credit from suppliers where applicable. Keep accurate accounting of credit requests. <br>
6.	Review invoices for accuracy, break into account codes, and pass on to the finance department. <br>
<br>
Merchandising<br>
1.	Ensure displays and shelves are fully stocked and rotated. Set stocking priorities for Clerks assisting in Perishable department. Stock items as needed. <br>
2.	Plan attractive displays. <br>
3.	Conduct periodic comparisons with competitors. <br>
4.	Set prices to meet margin goals as set by Management team. Mark down items a needed to reduce losses. <br>
5.	Ensure accurate, up-to-date price labeling of department items. <br>
6.	Solicit suppliers for promotional offerings in coordination with Ad/Core plans. <br>
7.	Provide product information to newsletter, customers, and staff. <br>
8.	Provide prompt, friendly, courteous customer service. <br>
9.	Make decisions regarding product mix based on product movement reports. <br>

Department Maintenance<br>
1.	Coordinate storage of items to be returned to suppliers. See that un-saleable items are properly disposed of. Keep accurate shrinkage records. <br>
2.	Ensure that department shelves, displays, aisles and storage areas are in clean, orderly condition, meeting health department standards. <br>
3.	Participate in inventory counts ensuring inventorying of department is accurate. <br>
4.	Maintain department equipment in working order. Advise Operations Manager of equipment repair, replacement needs, and desired equipment purchases. <br>
<br>
Tasks Assigned by the Operations Manager<br>
1.	Attend Ad/Core meetings to develop marketing plan, plan promotions and ad campaigns, revise store layout, set store policies and procedures, etc. <br>
2.	Participate in setting buyer goals, (margins and sales), add or drop product lines. <br>
3.	Participate in the compilation of the annual Capital Expenditures Budget. <br>
4.	Review daily and monthly sales reports; look for trends, problem areas, and possible actions to be taken. <br>
5.	Train, schedule and supervise member workers in department. <br>
6.	Act as an integral part of our participatory management system. <br>
7.	Maintain professional standards, i.e. punctuality, neatness, pleasant helpful manner. <br>
8.	Cashier as requested by Front End Manager. <br>
9.	Act as Shift Leader. <br>
10.	Attend industry trade shows as appropriate. <br>
11.	Keep up on industry trends, news and legislation. <br>

General Summary:  The Merchandising Assistant is responsible in helping to build<br>
the business by representing/showing our proprietary brands and unique design ability to build quality price point fashion core merchandise for the private label marketplace.<br>

Essential responsibilities:<br>
•Assist in the daily, weekly, and monthly maintenance of the business, including updating the line list and communicating with the Development and Production teams product needs and delivery requirements.<br>
•Manage SKU and development targets for the respective product categories.<br>
•Assist in the design selection of materials that meet total finish goods margin targets.<br>
•Facilitate pre and final costing gross margin rollups and analysis.<br>
•Manage all sample commitments, sample budgets and packaging activities for the respective product categories.<br>
•Contribute to meeting departmental financial goals.<br>
<br>
1.  Merchandising - Participate in all product concept/design /development meetings.  Assist in all meeting and line planning preparation.  Attend all support meetings, trend meetings.  <br>
 <br>
2.  Samples - Submit orders and follow up on all sample needs in a timely manner. Assist sales team in securing samples and line info for all previews, steering meetings, photo ops, and follow-up appointments.<br>
 <br>
3.  Communication - Conduct weekly new product start-up team meetings; publish minutes; follow up as necessary.  Inform teams as needed. Prepare adoptions; communicate updates. Sales, Development and design       liaison.  <br>
 <br>
4.  Planning - Focus on business trends, forecasting sales, margins, and inventories, and contributing actionable observations and solutions to business needs.  Development of assortment planning, key item planning, and tracking business performance and contributions.  Maintain proper replenishment stock levels in DC and/or at factory levels.  Identify and communicate merchandise selling and size trends to Sales & Design Manage the level of aged inventory through accurate allocations to fulfill company goals <br>

Organizational relationships:  Design, Development, Production, Purchasing, Marketing, Finance, DC, and Sales. <br>

Required Qualifications:<br>
Bachelor’s Degree in Business and/or Fashion / Merchandising.<br>
1-2+ years of experience in the field or in a related area.<br>
Ability to prioritize and balance multiple tasks simultaneously.<br>
Ability to cope with multiple deadlines and working under pressure.<br>
Ability to work effectively and cooperatively with fellow co-workers. <br>
Strong PC skills, Word, Excel, Outlook and Internet.<br>
Must be analytical, organized, inquisitive, action-oriented, and a self-starter.<br>
